Car Insurance Hyundai (Car Insurance). Can a car/motorbike battery work on day and completely die the next? Can a car/motorbike battery work on day and completely die the next? I've had my motorbike for a good half year now and it has worked great. But today I walk out and try to start it and nothing. I come back later, I get a brief cough and it doesn't start, and then won't cough again until it had a rest. My lights came on fine tho. My neutral light fade every time I try it so I think its the battery? But its so unexpected, it worked fine before, but maybe its was on it last legs, I haven't replaced it, I don't think the last owner had, so maybe..... Are your battery leads tight? A loose cable can be enough to keep her from starting, or charging. Yes they can die suddenly. The alternator keeps them going until total failure occurs. Yes batteries can just pack up for no apparent reason Sounds like you need a battery check and if ok you need to check for drainage or shorts. An auto electrician would diagnose Most defiantly they can and do my friend. Yes they can and do particularly with people who do a lot of short journeys using lights and heaters. it be either the battery thats faulty or the alternator may not be charging the battery. Time to get a new battery. You might charge it and will work fine for a day or so but will die again. The battery just won't hold charge anymore. Take it battery store, have tested. HELP? 2006 subaru impreza wrx sti with 50k miles. whenever i turn on the car the idle dips very low to almost stalling point for about 5-10 seconds then itll go back up to normal. my car also feels like it is misfiring sometimes when i drive it. the idle goes up and down sometimes but usually is good other than the low idle dip startup issue. i brought it to a couple shops and they both cant figure out what the problem is. they just say to keep driving on it until it gets worse. the car has no check engine lights and i just replaced the sparkplugs and fuel pump due to an issue the car had before this(car would crank but not start). any ideas and advice is greatly appreciated. thanks. car insurance. Hyundai . How to Lower My Car?Lowering a car provides better handling and a cool look that's very popular. It may seem like a lot of work, but here are some tips to get you through the process. In this case, we're doing the work on a 1996 Honda Civic, but the process is the similar for many vehicles. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Open-end wrench set 3/8 ratchet and socket set Allen key set Spring compressor Jack Jack stands Tire iron Lowering springsFront Suspension Step by Step : 1 Jack the vehicle up in the air using the jack and support the body on jack stands. Make sure that all four wheels are off the ground and that everything is secure before you remove the jack and crawl underneath it. 2 Remove all four wheels with the tire iron and place them to the side. 3 Unbolt the bolt that secures the bottom of the strut to the fork connected to the lower control arm using the 3/8-inch ratchet and a 14-mm socket. 4 Unbolt the bottom of the fork using the 3/8-inch ratchet with a 17 mm socket with an open-end wrench on the other side. 5 Pop the hood and unbolt the two bolts that secure the strut to the strut tower using the 3/8-inch ratchet and a 14 mm socket. While doing this, hold the strut in your other hand so that it doesn't fall on the floor. 6 Remove the strut from the car and place on the floor. 7 Assemble the spring compressor on the spring mounted to the strut. You want to set up the clamps as far apart as possible for maximum effect. 8 Tighten down the spring compressor as far down as possible using the 3/8-inch ratchet, alternating from side to side. You want to relieve as much pressure as possible from the strut so it doesn't pop out and cause damage. 9 Place an allen key in the top of the strut and loosen the nut on the strut cap with an open-end wrench. The allen key will keep the strut from spinning. Remove the strut cap once the bolt is off completely. Step by Step : 10 Remove the spring from the strut and install the lowering spring onto the strut. You may be able to reinstall the strut cap and nut without using the spring compressors, but if you have to, compress the spring using the spring compressors in the same manner as done in Step 8. Step by Step : 11 Reinstall the strut in the reverse order of removal. Rear Suspension Step by Step : 1 Unbolt the strut from the lower control arm using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a 14 mm socket. 2 Climb into the trunk and peel back the carpet to reveal the strut towers. Unbolt the two bolts with a 3/8-inch ratchet and a 14 mm socket. 3 Repeat Steps 6 through 10 from the front suspension tips. 4 Reinstall the strut in the reverse order of removal. 5 Bolt the wheels back on the vehicle, and lower it back on the ground and off the jack stands. You will have to drive the vehicle for a few days before the full effects of the lowering springs take hold, as the springs will settle under the weight of the car. Tips & Warnings Always be careful when handling springs, as they are under extreme pressure.
Hyundai . How to Drop an Engine in a Chevy TruckEngines wear out. It's an unfortunate reality, but not every engine built will last for 200,000 miles, so sometimes you have to replace it. The lifting and moving process can be difficult. In this case, the project vehicle in question is a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado with no engine, ready for one to be dropped in. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need 2-ton hoist Jack Jack stands 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set 24-inch pry bar Drain pan 36-inch-long chain Flathead screwdriver Assistant Dead blow hammerRemoving the front clip Step by Step : 1 Pop the hood and unscrew the hose clamps that secure the radiator to the engine, using a flathead screwdriver. The easiest way to get an engine into a vehicle is to remove the front clip, because then you have a straight path through to the engine bay. The coolant will drain out of the radiator so put a drain pan underneath the core support. 2 Unclip any electrical connections that mount to the fenders and the core support. Most come off just by using your hands, and some, like grounds, may require the use of a 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets. 3 Unbolt the front fenders using the 3/8-inch ratchet along the top of the fenders. 4 Unbolt the fenders from the body using the 3/8-inch ratchet from inside the door jams. There are two bolts there and one bolt on the very bottom of the fender, just forward of the door. 5 Unbolt the core support from the body using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set. There are two bolts that secure the core to the frame just below each headlight. 6 Grab a fender and have your assistant grab the other side. Gently lift up and forward, removing the entire front clip in one piece. Be careful, because any electrical connections that might be remaining will hold up the removal. Installing the engine Step by Step : 1 Bolt a chain to the engine, using whatever accessible bolts you can and the 3/8-inch ratchet. The easiest are usually on the exhaust manifolds, but you can also try the bolts for the intake manifold or front-end accessories. Make sure the chain goes across the engine, because that will balance the assembly. 2 Adjust the weight on the hoist using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set. The hoist has several marks on it for different weights. The safe bet is to set it for 1 ton, unless this is a diesel engine, in which case you want to go with a higher setting. 3 Clip the hoist to the engine using the hook on the hoist. 4 Jack up the hoist using the jack on the hoist. Lift the engine so that it's high enough to clear the bumper and frame, but not so high that it will hit anything on its way in. 5 Push the engine in place with your assistant helping. Make sure that you're not rocking the engine too much because it is a heavy object that can cause damage if it hits anything. 6 Lower the engine slowly onto the motor mounts using the hoist. You may need to use the pry bar to align the engine properly, using leverage to push the mounts into the right space. 7 Slide the engine mount bolts into the mounts once everything is properly aligned. You may need to use a dead blow hammer to get them in correctly. 8 Tighten the engine mount bolts using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set. The engine is now secured and dropped into the engine bay. 9 Unhook the hoist and unbolt the chain from the engine. Tips & Warnings An engine is extremely heavy, so be careful when working with it on the hoist. If not, you could cause yourself serious bodily harm. *A hollow pipe and a cross-shaft wrench can loosen the tightest lug nuts. Don't remove the lug nuts completely; just get them loose enough so that you can remove them by hand after raising the car (a feat explained in an earlier section of this chapter, "The Safe Way to Use a Jack"). Changing the tire Once the vehicle is safely jacked up and the lug nuts are off, follow these instructions to change the tire: 1. Remove the spare from the trunk if you haven't already done so. Actually, it's easier to do this before jacking up the car. If you haven't checked your spare recently, keep your fingers crossed that it has enough air in it! Roll the spare to the scene of the action. 2. Grasp the flat tire with both hands and pull it toward you. The flat tire sits on the exposed bolts that the lug nuts screwed onto. As you pull the flat off, it should slide along the bolts until, suddenly, it . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 2 130

Chevrolet Malibu. * Because tires are heavy, you may have a little trouble lifting the spare into place — especially if you're not accustomed to lifting heavy things. If this is the case, a bit of ingenuity may help; see the sidebar "A little ingenuity goes a long way" for details. 5. After you have the spare tire in place, replace the lug nuts and tighten them by hand. Give each lug nut a jolt with the wrench to get it firmly into place, but wait until the car is on the ground before you really try to tighten the lug nuts.
